“21 Jump Street Review”
An
average street called jump street is where we meet a pair of oddly accomplished
cops, who are on their way back to a local high school after being transferred,
playing the role of students to take down a synthetic drug ring. These two very
different previous classmates find themselves teaming up their abilities to
keep each other on top during some struggles after reuniting within a police
academy.
Schmid (Jonah Hill), was
nerdy and considered a loser throughout high school back in the day, who would
be the one taking all the advanced and pre-college courses. Jenko (Channing
Tatum), was the highly athletic sports guy who spent his time bullying Schmid
and making the “nerds” do his work. After high school these two are mashed up
together in a police academy, both struggling in different areas of the
training, realizing that if they put their heads together to help each other
get through they would both pass.
Newly acquainted
friends, they are put together on a task to where they are under cover and
attempting to infiltrate the local drug ring coming out of the high school.
Back to school with different identities, high school life begins to change for
the two brothers. Schmid and Jenko begin seeing how life was growing up with
the shoes switched, and it is quite interesting how this is done.
Seeing the two progress
in their new lifestyles and actually enjoying it, really gave the movie a
positive and enlightening attitude. Throughout the whole movie, the same
thought lingered as if the new roles of these newly graduated officers would be
the fall of them making the right decision to bring down the drug supplier, or would
change their lives for good? As any great movie, it worked out for the best.
Overall, it was a great movie with a solid and intriguing storyline, I would recommend
this forward to anyone with the time.
